More valves or less?
The function of the valve is specifically responsible for inputting air into the engine and discharging exhaust gas after combustion. It is divided into inlet valve and exhaust valve according to engine structure. The intake valve is used to suck air into the engine and burn it with fuel; The function of the exhaust valve is to discharge and dissipate the combustion waste gas. So, it is true that the more valves, the better. This is not the case.
The multi valve engine has the advantages of high speed and high efficiency. Because there are many valves, the intake and exhaust effect at high speed is much better than that of two valves. The compression ratio can be improved by placing the spark plug in the middle, and the performance is good. However, the multi valve design is relatively complex, the valve driving mode, combustion chamber structure and spark plug position need to be precisely arranged, the manufacturing cost is high, the process requirements are advanced, and the maintenance is difficult.
The valve remains open and closed. The greater the intake and exhaust volume of the valve, the smaller the resistance encountered by the piston in each stroke of intake or exhaust, and the less useless work it will do; However, if the valve is large, the valve distribution will not be accurate due to inertia in high-speed movement. Of course, using multiple valves can achieve a large number of intake and exhaust; It also overcomes the problem of large mass inertia, which is conducive to improving vehicle power and high-speed operation. However, if the number of valves is large, the manufacturing process is complex, the technology is not up to standard, and the failure rate is high. If the technical conditions are mature, multi valve is certainly better. In general, it can increase engine power.
In the refitting culture, power refitting has always occupied an important position. Therefore, before upgrading the power system, we'd better master some engine related knowledge to avoid being cheated and bypassed by unscrupulous businessmen during the refitting process. In fact, there are two and three valves, four and five valves in each cylinder of the engine. The valves refer to the inlet and exhaust valves of the cylinder. The intake valve is connected with the intake manifold and is the inlet for the engine to suck in fresh air; The exhaust valve is directly connected with the exhaust manifold and is the outlet of the exhaust gas from the engine.
